After investigating the meaning of life, award-winning documentarian Roger Nygard (Trekkies, The Nature of Existence) decided he would tackle an even more perplexing subject: why so many not-single-by-choice people, including himself, can’t find true love and learn to navigate the turbulent waters of relationships and marriage. Perhaps discovering the answer to this question is the meaning of life…or the Prime Directive.
The Truth About Marriage is a companion book to the highly acclaimed documentary of the same name. In his search for answers, Roger Nygard consulted top experts to unravel the mysteries of attraction and relationship psychology, while never losing sight of romance, joy, and humor.
According to family and marriage therapist Dr. William J. Doherty:
… If the goal of marriage is to make me happy, there are going to be times when I’m not happy. Happiness is a byproduct of a life well-lived. If I choose my soul mate to make me happy, I am aiming for something that will slip through my fingers.
While this book can’t promise an instant, “and they lived happily ever after,” it has already helped its author find answers and guidance where before there were only questions.
