The value of a book cannot be counted in dollars and sense, but in what the reader gets out of it. A good book treats a person in a variety of ways from a new reader just learning her alphabet to understanding details about a famous person through a biography. With a great book of fiction one can lose oneself in the midst of an unfolding story. Books carry information, intent, and knowledge.

The holidays are in the air and there is celebration going on all around us.  The Indiana Historical Society becomes a large part of the festivities with their annual Holiday Author Fair. It is held at the Indiana Historical Society every December and offers the opportunity for people to meet over 60 authors and see the new books they have released in addition to some of the older ones. Though the fair takes place in Indiana with Indiana purposed throughout, the books reach beyond the state’s borders.

Let’s view a few of the authors who attended the Holiday Author Fair. They are pictured with the books that Cardinal Publishers Group distributes.

Adriane Doherty is the author of over 15 children’s books. With several learning series, from her My First Alphabet Book series, to the Sweet Dream series, to the Come Learn with Me series. A perfect pick for learning little ones. Rubber Ducky Press publishes these books. On each spread, there is a little yellow ducky hidden for children to find.

Here she is holding Sweet Dreams Indiana.

Be sure to pick up a copy of ABC Christmas for your new little reader to enjoy on Christmas day!

Chris Edwards has penned several books. At the Holiday Author Fair he is signing copies of All About the Moon Landing, All About Stephen Hawking, and All About Helen Keller. These are books specially written for middle graders.

For the adults, Chris has a new one coming out about Elvis Presley.

Coming Soon: Do You Remember Elvis Presley? We’ll let you know as soon as it arrives!

Randy and Roxanne Mills are the authors of Summer Wind, this is the fascinating and heartbreaking story of Indiana soldier, Dick Wolfe. His life as a soldier was preserved in scores of letters he sent home to family, and letters friends sent to him in Vietnam from July 1967 to early January of 1968.

Randy’s latest book, As if by Magic, is the untold story of Larry Bird’s incredible high school basketball days and how he rose out of nowhere to the greatest height of Indiana high school basketball performance!

Rebecca Mullin smiles as an onlooker checks out her books, One Tomato, a counting book for children, and Purple Carrot, a book that teaches colors to new readers.

Hidden on every spread is a dandelion waiting for children to find it.
