About the Author

Brian Hanni is a sportscaster in Lawrence, KS where he broadcasts for his alma mater, the University of Kansas, as the “Voice of the Jayhawks.” In the Spring of 2022, Hanni got to broadcast KU Basketball’s amazing run that culminated in the Jayhawks’ 6th National Championship banner. He’ll be the first to tell you that every year at Kansas is a great year, but 2022 was truly a “Banner Year.” That special season and Hanni’s title-clinching call became the inspiration for his new book “Banner Year.”

Beyond his work on-air, Hanni has long had a passion for inspiring youth and serves many youth-based charities including his own pediatric cancer organization. “Game Maker” is his first children’s book and was inspired by time he spent with Dr. Naismith’s grandson, Jim Naismith. Hanni hopes these true tales of young James’ ambition and creativity as a child inspire future generations to dream big just as Naismith did.
