Pacers Pro-Basketball
Pacer fans were also elated with the team’s win on Monday, December 4th when they played the Boston Celtics and won, 122-112.
Author Mark Montieth takes us back in time as he researched the Indiana Pacers from before they were a part of the NBA in Reborn. Montieth shares the social issues that influenced the careers of the players and the wild and carefree nature of professional basketball in a basketball-crazed state in the 1960s. During this time, fights breaking out were a norm and players packing guns in their carry-on luggage for road trips was permissible, sometimes fans would even run onto the court and attack a referee after a game. The newspapers heavily promoted the team to help them stay alive. The book is filled with photos that will help you glimpse the team of the past; some have never been seen in public before.
Indiana Hoosiers – College Basketball
A big congratulations to Indiana Hoosiers and the fans for their win last night over Michigan. It was the last Big Ten game in December before returning to nonconference play. They move to 2-0 in Big Ten.
Terry Hutchens – IU Books
Some books that are perfect for Indiana fans were written by the late Terry Hutchens who covered Indiana basketball for over 16 years.
Hoosiers Through and Through –583 basketball players from the state of Indiana have gone on to play basketball at Indiana University in more than 110 years of competition. They grew up shooting hoops throughout the Hoosier state with a dream to play for IU. And their dream was manifest. Hutchens recognizes all of them but pays particular attention to top 50 players all-time in Indiana University tradition. All could be considered Hoosiers through and through.
Following the General – Hutchens takes a long look at three coaches, Mike Davis, Kelvin Sampson, and Tom Crean observing the good and the bad during their time in Bloomington. No worries, Coach Knight definitely comes up in the book as well.
So You Think You Know Indiana University Basketball – It was a big deal for IU fans when Christian Watford hit the Wat Shot that beat Kentucky in 2011. Hoosier fans will remember that one as IU rose from the ashes. Here, Hutchens offers the ultimate IU basketball trivia challenge. With nine various areas to test what you know about the Hoosiers, you can pick and choose your topic per chapter. It’s loads of fun with hours to challenge your knowledge.
